Why Travelers Rest
Travelers Rest is the small city at the north end of the Swamp Rabbit Trail, 10 miles up US-276 from Greenville and the last stop before the mountains. The trail turned Main Street into a row of cafes, breweries and bike shops, and the Saturday farmers market fills the square. Furman University is just south of town, Paris Mountain State Park is next door, and Caesars Head, Jones Gap and Table Rock are 20 to 30 minutes north. The city has its own water system and most building sites nearby are served by county water. Travelers Rest High School and Northwest Middle are Greenville County Schools. Because the city is small, almost every new home is on the edge: Marietta and Cleveland to the north on US-276 and SC-11, Tigerville to the east, and the Furman side to the south.
